- it’s time for another mini-session held at Petite Picasso. It’s a great location with lot’s of beautiful backdrops for variety, easy to get to, and we can shoot around town as well. Deida will have some fun crafts for the kids during the day of the mini-sessions!… Petite Picasso

This will be the typical fun and fast-paced 30 minute shooting session, for up to 4 members of the same immediate family, (sessions will be child centered although family photos may be attempted as well if time permits and babies must be at least 4 months old).

Okay….this is NEW and so stoked about this! We are adding video and photos making a small movie that is great for families! Fusion photography is a hot new trend that is bringing photography more to life! This has been a huge hit for us and it’s great to share the video with friends and family who don’t live here.  Seriously….if want more interesting and dynamic way to show off your kids there is nothing better than capturing the realness of your life that is meant to last forever! Here is a 3-minute piece we recently did. Of course the mini-session will be shorter and an additional $150, also it will easily be ready to send out to everyone over the internet! Checkout a family session we did…. the Macdonal Family video …..LOVE!

You will leave this experience free to print, facebook, email, scrapbook, etc… and enlarge the photos from your session at your convenience. Because of a limited availability (only 3 spots left!), the mini sessions will be scheduled on a first come - first serve basis.  These sessions book up very quickly! Please give me a call at 726-6487 or send me an email. I look forward to seeing you soon!

If you could send to a friend who would be interested in participating that would be great. Much love, Hillary XOXO

A lot of my couples love to get photos during summer/winter for their engagement sessions to share with friends and family that don’t live here. (And it’s always a really cool way to display in their sign in guest book for the wedding day!)  Colleen and Jack crack-me-up and again I had a blast with them!…great chemistry…period! Oh yeah, and they are a hottie couple with an adorable lab…Keela…

Sam : 2 year old

August 3, 2010

This has been an awesome summer photographing so many of my past wedding clients. It’s always great to see them again, catch up, and now be lucky enough to photograph their new babies and toddlers! Jono and Ashlee are one of those clients who I have become good friends with and love!  Their little guy Sam is adorable! also the perfect example of most 2 year olds that you can’t force a smile (:  of course I tried, he did not find me amusing at all! So we gave him space to look for bugs and throw some sticks in the water…

FYI mommies…always come ready to be in a photo! Ashlee and Jono both had no intentions of being photographed, they just wanted Sam…but seriously…it NEVER has happened for me on a shoot! Parents always need to be engaging with their little toddler….. they need to have their melt down once in awhile (:  Ashlee you always look beautiful, and thank you for getting Sam interested blowing dandelions, yummy bribes, and touching huge bumble bees…amazing none of us got stung?!

Ashlee Bauter: Once again Hillary, you are amazing-even with an uncooperative 2 year old! The hardest part is choosing...at least with the CD I don't have to decide RIGHT NOW! (: It was so good to see you. Thank you for capturing the sweetness of our little Sam!

susie maybery: A water fountain with VODKA and I'll smile like that too. Grannymay

Sam: I'll get you one for Christmas Susie!

Thank You for being so great and easy to work with! I absolutely had an amazing time….XOXO

Kristin Cheatwood: Love ALL of the images!!!

Kelly: What a darling family!! Great shots Hillary!!

Katherine: Beautiful! You seem to really capture everyone's personalities! ok here is my question :)....what time of day did you shoot this (or like to have a shoot)? Do you always put your subjects in open shade? As always love your wisdom...thank you... thank you!

Kelley Rushton: BEAUTIFUL job and BEAUTIFUL family! Susie your children are beyond gorgeous!

Hillary Maybery: Hey Katherine! I shot this family at 6pm. When shooting outside, I do like open evening light shade...but always move my subject in a circle until I find those natural catch lights in their eyes - light first, background second. When I shoot kids I forget traditional, always smiling, always facing the camera photos. Don’t force the smile, it only creates strange fake smiles. As you can see from this shoot, Skade had a few moments of meltdown (happens at EVERY shoot) just be patient...kids are kids! There is no secret or magic recipe...light is complex and SO important! — take the time to truly see and understand light..practice, practice, practice, it takes time. I am still learning and mess up a lot...I still get frustrated sometimes after a shoot (: but, my best advice is spend more time shooting and practicing and less time on the computer looking for the latest tips and secrets. I am always here for you...XOXO

Katherine: Awesome advice...will do...practice, practice,practice....and look for those catch lights! Oh Hillary, thank you so much!

Nicola + Chris : wedding

July 28, 2010

Nicola and Chris are two of the most cheerful and caring people you could meet! They are also type of people who are devoted to their friends, fabulous family, and always having a SUPER time together!  I am awaiting for a little more about the details of their wedding for you.. but I couldn’t wait to share! They are still on a long honeymoon at St. Lucia…. probably sipping on a yummy fruity cocktail, laying on the beach, looking out at the the calm Caribbean Sea (:  So for now here is a sneak peek of their amazing wedding! I want to thank photographer Craig Wolfrom teaming up with me - your photos are awesome!  Flowers by Tara Bella, she always does a fabulous job! Planned the last 19 months by her mother Debbie Beye and also by the very talented and successful event planner Amanda Seaward and Fanny Horn from Sun Valley Company….

I always send an email to the bride and groom asking about there wedding a couple days later…a favorite moment or funny one, about the dress, why Sun Valley, how they met, wedding vendors they chose, and etc…  This is what I received from Robin….  “What a perfect way to start our lives together. It couldn’t have been better in my dreams. The weather, the scenery, the friends and family and most importantly a stunningly beautiful bride. If I was casting a wedding movie Allison would have won the part. I knew the I wanted to spend the rest of my days with her within a week of knowing her so it was a fantasy come to life when I first saw her striding towards me right down the middle of my childhood wiffle ball field. Feeling the cool breeze relaxed my nerves as I gazed into magical green eyes and I gripped her hands tight.  I felt nervous but she gently rubbed the inside of my hands and it relaxed me and reminded me that this is my true love and we are about to commit to eachother for life.   Marriage is a big decision maybe the most important one in a lifetime.  As I vowed to love this person forever I couldn’t have been more certain and happy about taking this woman’s hand and strolling off into the sunset of eternal love land together. “………It could be to sappy for a Guy to write. What do you think? …Thanks again, Robin.

Robin and Allison I enjoyed every moment of being in your love story and inviting me into your lives, it truly was a beautiful day. I can’t wait to see where life takes you and I look forward skiing with you when you move back to Sun Valley this winter.  Love, Hillary XOXO

This summer I have a few small and intimate weddings. These couples just want beautiful portraits of the two of them in scenic Idaho on their wedding day. Carrie and Mike’s wedding was very simple, mostly family and some close friends to celebrate up in Stanley at the Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch. We had the beautiful backdrop of the Sawtooth Mountains, big puffy white clouds, and lot’s of sunshine (it poured most of the day in Sun Valley),  it was a wonderful afternoon!…..I had an incredible time photographing them…
