Welcome Maeve!

January 31, 2010

– this lovely family I photographed 2008,  just had a perfect addition to their family 6 weeks ago –  meet miss Maeve. A second time to spend with this family always makes me so HAPPY!  Seriously, Anne has my dream colors, AMAZING style, personality, and home  (plus her husband Ed is always a good sport working with me).  Getting to capture moments like these is what makes family photography so awesome and precious!

Wedding Slideshow

January 31, 2010

Jennifer and Jonathon are an incredible couple! Kristin and I were fortunate to photograph their wedding this New Year’s Eve (during a Blue Moon) as our LAST wedding of the year, 2009! They are both very smart, adorable together, witty, and incredibly,  gracious people you will ever meet!  This wedding was a GREAT one to be a guest at,  and have the opportunity to photograph! — we were all treated to a series of meals and wines fit for royalty.  Each meal was prepared with only the finest food, and paired with wines from the most exclusive vineyards around the world.  — please enjoy their wedding slideshow here.

This morning I got a bit side tracked, and starting playing with photoshop overlays. I am designing a valentines card for Presly’s class and played with some engagement photos too. I also think will be super fun to add into my digital scrapbook layouts, announcements, and cards — (I have some very cute ones for kid shoots coming up for Valentine’s mini-session as well). Happy Friday and everyone have a wonderful weekend!  XOXO

I’m Back

January 26, 2010

My vacation to Santa Barbara was awesome — and El Nino was in FULL affect! I have never seen rain, crazy wind, and surf wrapped around the point of Rincon since I was a kid.  My twin brother Billy has been ripping Rincon and big wave surf the last 25 years — he is what you call a true local, and has a long-time history at this world famous surf spot — so I was stoked to get some photos of him with Presly there.

2 days later the sun came out, and time to look for shellsuntitled-12

Do you remember trying this as a kid — holding seashells you grabbed and put up to your ear? It seems like no matter how far away from the ocean you are, you can still hold a seashell up to your ear and hear the roar of the waves. We brought Presly’s favorite shells back home to Idaho for souvenirs of Rincon…01376597

Vacation Time!!

January 18, 2010

– I am going home to see my family in Santa Barbara for a week with Presly! I am not taking my cell or computer — just a good book I have been excited to read (:  So PLEASE be patient with me returning your emails or phone calls until I return January 25th. If you have any questions regarding photography,  you can contact Kristin at kristin@hillarymaybery.com.

A post is always better with a photo — Presly and Daddy had a little bonding time this morning before we get on the plane to see Grandma, Grandpa, my twin brother Billy, and fabulous sister-n-law Sam!  (I love her ‘horror-look’ first time sledding, she was so stoked the rest of the day!….

Victoria + Anthony : Wedding

January 12, 2010

Italian Vogue.  That is the magazine in which I could see Victoria and Anthony’s beautiful wedding gracing.  Victoria and Anthony (aka Gilly and Ank) met 9 1/2 years ago on the soccer fields of Puget Sound University.  It wasn’t for another 3 years until the two had their first date at Puget Sound’s coffee shop, where, according to Anthony, sparks flew.  The two finished college and spent many frequent flyer miles while Victoria attended ASU Law school in Tempe, AZ to arrive at their engagement day on May 17th.

Victoria says “He proposed on my birthday.  We had the BEST day, walking around a sunny Seattle day (where we were living at the time).  We made a great dinner, and he gave me a rad pair of shoes I had been pining over.  It was 10:30 at night and I was reading.  He came over, kneeled down next to me, and asked me if I would spend the rest of my life with him.  The best part is he was wearing a pair of sweatpants and pulled the ring out of his pocket.  Apparently my comments about public, embarrassing proposals were heard!  It was just the two of us after an awesome day together it was perfect!

The PERFECT couple found themselves 7 months later, her in a beautiful dress, him dashingly handsome in his suit and tie, standing before 120 of their closest family and guests at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Sun Valley, Idaho exchanging vows.  The mass was beautiful, and actually, Anthony and Victoria’s favorite part of their entire wedding day!

Victoria: “My favorite moment from the wedding day was the mass.  Being in such a beautiful location, in a beautiful church, and having our family and friends in one place is something I will treasure forever.”

Anthony: “The mass.  I kept looking over at Victoria and out at all of our family and friends in the church and felt true joy.  It was a beautiful setting.”

True joy it was.  After the mass was over, Anthony and Victoria met their guests at the beautifully candle-lit Elkhorn Lodge, but not before a quick pit-stop.  Since Victoria and Anthony decided to do a “reveal” before the wedding and have all the family photos taken before the ceremony as well, they had plenty of time to allow the guests to arrive and spend a little special time with just the two of them.

Victoria: “After the mass, we took a few extra photo’s and called Taylor (wedding planner) Sturges, and found out the guests were still arriving.  So we decided to stop at the Sun Valley Nordic Lodge and have a drink.  It was the BEST decision.  We had 15 minutes to ourselves to celebrate.  It was a perfect way to collect ourselves and relish the moment before getting the party started with all our favorite people!”

Get the party started, they did!  DJ Lenny Joseph kept the hottest tunes pumping and the Bride and Groom didn’t leave the dance floor all evening!  It looked like a full-on dance party and we were lucky to grab every minute of it.

Now on to the photos!

Anthony and Victoria, I can’t begin to express how much I truly enjoyed photographing you and your amazing family and friends.  Your day was absolutely perfect!

Parting words from Anthony: “My parents have been married for 34 years and Victoria’s for 31.  We are lucky to have such great examples and were lucky to have them stand next to us on our wedding day.”

Words can’t begin describe how cute and wonderful Kristin and Tim are.  They truly are made for one another.  Kristin and Tim met while Kristin was in Sun Valley teaching a private pilates class. Their ceremony was held at Sun Valley’s golf club house and they turned their reception site, River Run Lodge, into a magical winter scene. Kristin and Tim, I KNOW you will enjoy a lifetime of happiness, and am soo honored to have been part of your wedding day!  I now present your  wedding slideshow….

XOXO, Hillary

New Year’s Eve, 2009/2010 was extra special for me, as I celebrated it by photographing the nuptials of Jonathan and Jennifer Zang.  I was honored that Jonathan and Jennifer flew not only ME, but also my second-shooter, Kristin all the way to BOSTON to photograph their big day!  Kristin and I flew to Boston on Monday, the 29th, and the moment we stepped outside of the airport I fell in love with the city.  The people, the architecture, the ambiance was so perfect.  The hotel Jonathan and Jennifer arranged for us was INCREDIBLE!  If you are ever in Boston, you MUST stay at Nine Zero!

When I finally got to meet Jonathan and Jennifer on Tuesday, I KNEW we would have a blast with the two!  Both were incredibly intelligent, witty, attractive and genuinely nice people.  After we toured the wedding/reception site, Jennifer and Jonathan we learned more about the couple at their home near Beacon Hill.  Jennifer She told us how Jonathan and her met on a rooftop party many years ago, although her sister added that it was actually a bar called Whiskey’s where the connection was made :)  The couple also told us that the reason why they chose to get married on New Year’s eve was for the blue moon (the double full moon only happens on average every 2.7 years).

The couple was very involved with every detail that went into their wedding and reception, both held at No 9 Park.  It was there, Jennifer said, that Jonathan “wined and dined” her during their courtship.  They made it very clear how much they love the food and wine served up by the fantastic staff at the restaurant, and explained how much of the evening would be centered around the 7-course meal.  Indeed it was!  The 60 guests were treated to tasty appetizers during the pre-wedding cocktail hour, and after a very intimate and sweet exchanging of vows, the guests were treated to a series of meals and wines fit for royalty.  Each meal was prepared with only the finest fish, meat and handmade pastas and paired with wines from the most exclusive vineyards around the world.  I had a great time indulging in these fine dishes (after they were thoroughly photographed, of course).

Jonathan and Jennifer - I wish you a lifetime of happiness.  I truly enjoyed being  a part of your fantastic day, and cannot thank you enough for sharing your wonderful city with me.  Also a special thanks goes out to Kim Morin and Jessica Kinney for their warm hospitality, Chef Patrick Campbell and his crew for the incredible food, and all the servers, bartenders and cooks for making the night extra special.
